A pro-government Belgrade daily said on Thursday that Air Serbia is flying from Belgrade to Moscow twice a day as one of the few airlines flying to Russia.

The daily said that Air Serbia’s reservation system shows that it will have three flights on Friday, flying across Hungary, Poland and Lithuania. Vecernje Novosti said that most travelers from Europe choose to fly with big airlines via the Middle East but added that Air Serbia’s three hour flight is much shorter. The Serbian national air carrier will be using its Airbus A330 aircraft when not flying to New York.

Tango Six aviation portal editor Petar Vojinovic is quoted as saying that Serbia is one of the few countries that have not imposed sanctions on Russia allowing its airline to fly to Moscow. He said that Air Serbia will not profit from the circumstances because of the losses incurred during the COVID pandemic but will increase the number of passengers to and from Moscow flying at favorable prices.
