The Forum of Belgrade Grammar Schools decided that its members will not hold classes on Monday, January 20, but will instead dedicate the day to “union and protest activities,” this union’s deputy head Ana Dimitrijevic told Fonet.
She explained that this decision was made because Forum members are dissatisfied with how their representatives in major education workers’ unions reached an agreement with the Serbian Government.
“We feel like we have been deceived again,” Dimitrijevic said after a meeting of the Forum’s Executive Board on Thursday.
She emphasized that there will be no classes on Monday at the start of the second school semester, as a sign of support for colleagues from the Third Belgrade Grammar School, who have reportedly received threats from unknown individuals during the school blockades organized by their senior students.
The Forum’s decision also demonstrates solidarity with students who have also been victims of threats and attacks.
The Forum of Belgrade Grammar Schools calls on all education workers to join the protest outside the Faculty of Philosophy in Belgrade at 11 am Monday.
“As for what will happen after Monday, we will see. It depends on the mood among our members and colleagues,” said Dimitrijevic.
