Belgrade prosecutors order identification of Kosovo police officers
Prosecutors in Belgrade ordered Serbia’s police and top security agency to identify the people who arrested a senior official of the Serbian Government’s Office for Kosovo on July 18.
The Higher Public Prosecution (VJT) in Belgrade sent the Criminal Police Department (UKP) and Security Information Agency (BIA) to gather information and determine the identities of the 18 people who arrested Office for Kosovo deputy Director Igor Popovic and took him to Pristina.
Popovic was arrested after a speech in the town of Orahovac at a memorial service for Serbs killed by the ethnic Albanian Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA).
“The requests for information were made to determine the elements of the crime of abduction,” the VJT said.
