N1 cameras captured dramatic footage from a protest in New Belgrade showing a man, identified by students as a plainclothes police inspector, pulling a gun during clashes with demonstrators.

The video shows the man moving between residential buildings with a pistol in his right hand. A police badge was visibly attached to his belt. Protesters nearby shouted at him: “Shame on you! Who are you fighting against?”

Students from the Faculty of Organizational Sciences (FON), who have been blocking roads as part of the demonstrations, later posted on social media platform X that plainclothes inspectors had entered several apartment buildings in New Belgrade and Zemun, pulling out firearms and beating protesters.

“Three inspectors entered one building, pulled out their guns, and started beating us. Some people were arrested, others managed to escape into apartments,” the students wrote.

The unrest escalated late into the night. Police used tear gas and stun grenades against crowds marching from New Belgrade toward Zemun. At the intersection of Mihailo Pupin Boulevard and John F. Kennedy Street, loud blasts were heard before riot police charged demonstrators.

After dispersing the crowd, police withdrew toward the roundabout in front of the New Belgrade municipal building. Protesters, meanwhile, regrouped and continued moving toward Zemun.

Around 10:30 p.m., police launched another intervention, firing tear gas to break up the gathering. Large numbers of police officers and Interior Ministry vehicles were deployed along Mihailo Pupin Boulevard, where explosions and fireworks echoed late into the night.
