School of Philology Dean Iva Draskic Vicanovic barged past student monitors and threw all the students out of the building, refusing to allow them to collect their personal belongings.
Students said that she was egged on by Slavoljub Veselinovic who is reported to be a member of the ruling coalition’s Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS).
A group of professors are standing at the entrance to prevent only School of Philology students from entering the building which they share with the university schools of geography and biology. Students said that the school porter has been removing banners, stickers and fliers for days, including banners with the list of names of the people who died at Novi Sad Railway Station.
A student present at the school told N1 that they were not allowed in to collect their personal belongings but that the porter brought out their things. The student said that the dean ordered them to remove the humanitarian aid that they collected for families who lost their homes in the recent wildfires across the country.
