Belgrade University Psychology Department halts classes over “pressures, violence, and persecution” of academics

“Due to the pressures, violence, and persecution faced by our colleagues at universities throughout Serbia, as well as direct attacks on the dignity and autonomy of the university, the Department of Psychology at the University of Belgrade’s Faculty of Philosophy organized a vote on a protest suspension of classes. The majority of faculty members and teaching associates participated in the vote, and they all backed the proposal,” Toskovic told N1.

Students from the University of Belgrade Faculty of Law, Faculty of Architecture, and Faculty of Political Sciences (FPN) held a one-day boycott on Wednesday in solidarity with staff and students at the University of Novi Sad’s Faculty of Philosophy, who are demanding the reinstatement of dismissed professor Jelena Kleut.

In Belgrade, students at the Faculty of Philosophy called on their professors and teaching assistants to join the boycott through the end of the week.

Faculty of Political Sciences (FPN) students announced on social media that they are entering a week-long strike, from January 27 to February 1.
