MEPs Vladimir Bilcik and Matjaz Nemec said on Friday evening that they were encourage by the constructive attitude of Serbian officials they met during their two day visit to Belgrade.
“We came to Belgrade at a crucial moment for Serbia’s European future and at a time of huge challenges for the international community. That’s why we are encouraged by the constructive attitude during our meetings with the representatives of political groups in the National Assembly, the European Parliament co-facilitators of the Inter-Party Dialogue process with the Serbian National Assembly said in a statement at the end of their visit.
The statement added that they also “welcomed the commitment to the country’s European path expressed in the meetings”. “(The European) Parliament stands ready to work with the National Assembly, building a strong institution ready to tackle the challenges related to the European Integration of Serbia,” it said.
The statement said EP Rapporteur for Serbia Bilcik and fellow MEP Nemec met with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and Prime Minister Ana Brnabic to discuss the EU enlargement process and other issues.
