Blast kills one in Smederevo

A police statement said that the blast killed the owner of an apartment on the top floor of a central city street at 8.35 pm. It said that the man activated the explosive device himself.

N1 was told by witnesses that the strong blast damaged about 20 other apartments. The blast was heard across the city. An N1 crew that went to Smederevo on Friday morning reported glass and pieces of furniture all over the street in front of the apartment building which was cordoned off by the police.

The Serbian state TV (RTS) said that the two people who were injured are brother and sister, adding that they suffered serious injuries.
