Blockade lifted, RTS not back to normal yet

The Serbian state TV (RTS) did not resume regular programming on Tuesday morning after students lifted their blockade of its headquarters and studios on Monday evening.
The RTS aired a recording of the early morning news, continuing with reruns of shows and movies. Reports said that staff were sent an email saying that the public broadcaster’s headquarters in central Belgrade would undergo pest control and that they would be informed when to come back to work.
Students lifted their blockade on the 14th day of their protest after the parliamentary Culture and Information Committee decided to call a new competition for members of the Regulatory Body for Electronic Media (REM), a supposedly independent body which has been criticized extensively for allocating national broadcast licenses to pro-regime stations and for failing to enforce the laws governing electronic media.
The students cleaned up the plateau in front of the RTS headquarters and left a message in chalk in front of the main entrance saying We’re Watching You.
They also left a message for local residents, thanking them for their patience.
