The Blood Transfusion Institute of Serbia warned on Monday that all blood types' reserves were at a minimum and appealed for donors.

It added the response of voluntary donors had been "drastically" reduced due to the upcoming holidays, "an increasing number of citizens positive for the coronavirus, and those in self-isolation due to the infection."

"Sometimes, a maximum of 20 to 40 units of blood are collected daily, while Belgrade and eight large centres in Serbia that the Institute supplies with blood components need between 200 and 300 units per day," the Institute said.

Citizens can donate blood every day from 9 am to 5 pm at the Institute's premises or one of the field sites.
