Retired navy Captain Petar Boskovic told Nova TV that a soldier has been disciplined for waving at a group of students and their supporters after the recent military parade in Belgrade.

Pictures of the soldier waving from an armored car at the group who were not allowed access to the parade grounds were posted on social media after the parade organized by President Aleksandar Vucic.

Boskovic, a presidency member of the opposition SRCE party, warned of what he called an absurdity “with the army punishing soldier over this or others who liked the pictures on social media”. According to him, the Military Security Agency knew who they are right away but they did not know of the military training camp set up for foreign nationals outside the city of Loznica for two months. “That soldier simply waved at his citizens and was disciplined immediately because the agency reacted immediately,” he is quoted as saying in a SRCE press release.

Boskovic said that soldiers were moved from the Ground Safety Zone towards Kosovo for the parade and added that three bases in that area were closed.
