A profile called FreepressvsCorruption recently appeared on social media platform X and over the past ten days has been publishing a series of videos and alleged investigative content focused exclusively on Dragan Solak, founder of United Group.

The profile, which has only 170 followers, is almost exclusively dedicated to targeting Solak, including several AI-generated clips linking him to the Kremlin.

However, even with its small following, the profile is being cited by some local media outlets, including the pro-regime tabloid Kurir, which portrays it as a source of international analysis.

In an article titled “Moscow’s Guardian of State Funds Was the Key Cog in Solak’s Shady Dealings,” Kurir claims FreepressvsCorruption reveals how “Dragan Solak used intimidation to turn journalism into propaganda.”

Kurir uses the profile as proof that the “story about Solak” is gaining international traction, despite the account not being tied to any known journalists, newsrooms, or investigative organizations.

The account’s bio states that it is located in Brussels and linked to the website braveneweurope.com.

However, N1 reached out to the editorial team of Brave New Europe, which is indeed based in London and publishes expert analyses on European politics, economics, and environmental issues from a left-leaning, anti-neoliberal perspective.

In their response, Brave New Europe said they have no connection whatsoever to the FreepressvsCorruption profile and that their name and identity are being misused.

Brave New Europe describes itself as an educational platform that promotes critical thinking, social justice, and a sustainable Europe, with no history of targeting individuals.

Although the FreepressvsCorruption profile focuses solely on Dragan Solak and no other individuals or topics, its content is already being used as source material in a long-running campaign against the founder of United Group and the media outlets it owns, including N1.
