Brnabic: Agreement reached with opposition on one of two working groups

Serbian Parliament Speaker Ana Brnabic said following a meeting with representatives of MP caucuses and civil society organizations that an agreement has been reached on the formation of a working group to improve the electoral process, but that there was no consensus on the setting up of a working group for inspection, revision, and monitoring of the electoral roll.

The meeting held Friday between the speaker and MPs was focused on the establishment of working bodies to improve the electoral process and to provide inspection, revision and monitoring of the electoral roll.

A press release issued by Brnabic’s office said the meeting lasted almost two hours and that an agreement was reached to form the working group tasked with improving the electoral process, that is, fulfilling the ODIHR recommendations.

It added that, at the opposition’s request, this working group will be chaired by civil society representatives, and its formation has been scheduled for Monday, April 29.
