Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic and US Ambassador to Serbia Christopher Hill discussed Friday bilateral relations between the two countries, the situation in the region, the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue and cooperation in the field of energy, said a press release issued by Brnabic’s office.
Brnabic said the preservation of peace and stability in the region is one of the key priorities, that Serbia remains committed to investing additional efforts in order to develop regional ties in all areas and that it provides strong support for regional cooperation through the Open Balkan initiative, the press release said.
Commenting on the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue, the Prime Minister said she believes that the new round of dialogue on 18 August in Brussels will be constructive, especially in light of the current situation and Pristina’s unilateral moves, the press release said.
Ambassador Hill noted that the continuation of talks is the only way to resolve open issues, and pointed out that the US strongly supports the EU-mediated dialogue.
Brnabic and Hill pointed out that there is great potential for cooperation in the field of energy, especially when it comes to projects of renewable energy sources.
The Prime Minister said that energy security is a topic of extreme importance for Serbia and that it is necessary to make a new step towards energy transition and the construction of new energy capacities, and added that in this sense she sees the potential for cooperation with the USA, the press release said.
