Serbian Parliament speaker Ana Brnabic on Monday invited all parliamentary groups to a new meeting on Thursday, April 11.
They have been invited to a dialogue on amendments to the laws in view of the ODIHR recommendations, said the office of the Parliament speaker.
As stated in the invitation, Brnabic has invited all MP caucuses in order to resume the dialogue in the Parliament, as the institution with the highest democratic capacity, on a topic on which there is broad political consensus, and that is the implementation of all ODIHR recommendations aimed at improving the electoral process in Serbia.
Brnabic said in the invitation that the meeting will focus on draft amendments to the laws prepared by the Government Working Group for Cooperation with the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) and the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) for the purpose of implementing the ODIHR recommendations.
In addition to the parliamentary parties, civil society organizations – CeSID, CRTA, Transparency Serbia, and Serbia’s international partners who participated in previous meetings on the implementation of the ODIHR recommendations, have also received invitations to attend the April 11 meeting.
The Serbian Parliament Collegium meeting between government and opposition representatives on improving the electoral conditions held at the beginning of April and chaired by speaker Ana Brnabic, ended without an agreement.
Government representatives rejected the demand of the Serbia Against Violence (SPN) and NADA opposition coalitions for all local elections in the country due this year to be held on the same day.
