Brnabic: Parliament to debate amendments to four electoral laws in May

Brnabic told the pro-government Pink TV that public hearings regarding the regulations will be held in the Belgrade, Nis, Kragujevac, and Novi Sad following the May Day holidays.

She said the laws are expected to be passed by the Serbian Parliament by the end of May, after which the government will move to implement the remaining ODIHR recommendations.

Brnabic emphasized that the ruling coalition has been working continuously since 2019 to improve electoral conditions and implement the ODIHR recommendations.

The draft versions of the four electoral laws, based on recommendations issued following the parliamentary elections held on December 17, 2023, have been published on the Serbian Parliament website.

The draft legislation covers the Law on the Election of MPs, the Law on the Election of the President, the Law on Local Elections, and the Law on the Constitutional Court.

The legislation was formally put forward by an MP from the ruling Serbian Progressive Party (SNS).
