BIO4 campus is a huge visionary project we have been working on for over 18 months, said Serbian Prime Minster Ana Brnabic, adding that she was certain the project would “additionally positively change the fate of our country, strengthen the economy, our competitiveness and raise the average salary and pensions because it will create enormous added value.”
At a presentation of a BIO4 campus conceptual design in the Serbian Government Brnabic said that the project will help keep young people in Serbia while also drawing many to move to Serbia in order to work on some of the most interesting, most innovative and most challenging projects in the field of biotechnology.
“Biotechnology is, without any doubt, the future,” said Brnabic.
BIO4 campus is designed as a unique place of development in the field of biomedicine, bioinformatics, biotechnology and biodiversity. The construction of the BIO4 campus should begin in the first half of 2023, while occupancy is expected in the first half of 2025. Some 190 million Euro will be invested in its construction and another 100 million in equipping it.
Brnabic said negotiations on financing the construction were under way with the Council of Europe Development Bank, adding that, if they fail, some other source of funding will be sought.
The campus will include the Belgrade University Faculty of Biology and Faculty of Pharmacy and five scientific institutes.
