Serbian Parliament speaker Ana Brnabic refused to call a vote of no confidence in the Government, claiming that one of the signatures on the motion was forged.

She accused the opposition Party of Freedom and Justice (SSP) MPs of forging the signature of one of their own members on the motion, and called on the opposition to take responsibility for their actions.

Brnabic said that based on this information, she decided to return the motion for a vote of no confidence to the authorized proposer, People’s Movement of Serbia (NPS) leader Miroslav Aleksic.

“As usual, Ana Brnabic is lying. No one forged any signatures. Ana Brnabic is clearly afraid of a debate on the government’s dismissal due to the responsibility of its members, and herself, as well as of President Aleksandar Vucic, for the deaths of 15 people in Novi Sad. She is inventing reasons to prevent the session from taking place,” said SSP leader Dragan Djilas.

“The motion for a vote of no confidence has been returned due to serious irregularities and violations, which not only require the Parliament’s Ethics Committee to take action, but also those responsible for the forged signatures,” said Brnabic.

The motion was filed to hold the government accountable for the tragedy that occurred on November 1 in Novi Sad, when a concrete canopy roof at the city’s recently renovated main railway station collapsed, killing 15 people and severely injuring two others.
