Brnabic, Vucevic condemn Picula, EP resolution

Two senior Serbian ruling party officials lashed out at European Parliament rapporteur Tonino Picula over his interview to N1 in which he said violence at the tent camp between the presidency and parliament was unavoidable.

Parliament Speaker Ana Brnabic wrote in an X post that his words are a unique case of a European politician supporting an attempted murder. “This is a unique case of a European politician supporting and glorifying an attempted murderer, a man who picked up a pistol to take the lives of people simply because they think differently than he does. Interesting,” she wrote.
Brnabic added that Picula is a man who is proud to have been a Croatian trooper who expelled Serbs from their homes and added that “his statement makes him the first man from the European Union (and I hope the only one) who openly supports attempted murder”.

SNS leader and former Prime Minister Milos Vucevic accused Picula of interfering in Serbia’s internal affairs and of hatred for Serbs.
“The European Parliament's Rapporteur for Serbia, Tonino Picula, is once again directly interfering in Serbia's internal affairs with his statements, spreading brutal lies and scandalous arbitrary assessments. Is this in the spirit of the European values he supposedly promotes? It's not European, but it is in Picula's spirit, a man who exudes hatred for Serbia,” his X post said and added that the same pattern was used to write this latest EP Resolution on Serbia, “a very strange text that is contrary to the principles and values of the EU”.
He said he expected the European Parliament to condemn the attacks on and torching of SNS offices, condemn the attack on what the authorities claim are students who want to study, and on people who want to move freely and live normally. “They ignored that! The authors, as well as those who cheer for resolutions like this, are not interested in the truth, but in destroying the state and violently seizing power. They will not succeed in that by printing grotesque and non-binding documents about the alleged situation in Serbia, nor with all of Picula's lies. Serbia will win,” Vucevic wrote.
