Large parts of the central Serbian city of Kragujevac lost power for more than half an hour on Tuesday just before a visit to the State Data Center by Prime Minister Ana Brnabic.

Power went out between 9:20 and 10:13 am in central parts of the city and at least two suburbs, an N1 local correspondent reported.

Brnabic was scheduled to attend the signing of a commercial contract with the Oracle corportation at 11 am. The contract turns the Data Center into the corporation’s first regional center of its kind in southeastern Europe. The value of the deal was not disclosed.

The outgoing Prime Minister told the media after the ceremony: “This is another small crown of success in digitalization and an indicator of everything we could do because we believe as the Serbian government in our local know-how, inventiveness, innovation. We believe in our education system which is why we built this Data Center”. She said the talks with Oracle took months and added that the contract shows that a global giant has confidence in Serbia in terms of keeping its’ clients data secure.

Brnabic did not field questions from the media after the event.
