Belgrade daily Danas said on Friday that sources in the Serbian president’s cabinet denied overnight claims that Aleksandar Vucic had been admitted to hospital.

Media reports late on Thursday night said President Vucic had been admitted to hospital. Pro-regime tabloid Informer claimed that opposition supporters said in Twitter posts that he had heart failure and was taken to the Military Medical Academy (VMA) for treatment and that they were wishing him dead.

Some media said he was not taken to the VMA but to some other undisclosed hospital.

Several pro-regime media quoted Vucic as telling the Russian Sputnik portal that he is fine. “I’m fine and starting a tour of Serbia,” he is reported to have said.
