Cameron in Kosovo

UK Foreign Secretary David Cameron is meeting British KFOR troops during a visit to Kosovo, a Foreign Office press release said adding that he is there to underline UK support for stability in the region.

“At a time of growing instability across the Western Balkans, the Foreign Secretary will today (4 January) visit Kosovo on his first trip of the New Year, to meet UK troops based in the country and hold talks with Kosovan leaders and civil society,” it said and added that Cameron will also visit Kosovo Foreign Minister Donika Gërvalla-Schwarz, President Vjosa Osmani and Prime Minister Albin Kurti to discuss security issues in the Western Balkans.

He is also due to meet members of the Kosovo Rehabilitation Centre for Torture Victims and a female survivor of conflict-related sexual violence at the Heroinat Memorial commemorating conflict-related sexual violence survivors of the Kosovo War.

Kurti said in a Facebook post after a formal dinner given for the UK Foreign Secretary, that he informed Cameron of Pristina’s “commitment to economic development, the fight against crime and corruption, improving citizens' welfare and guaranteeing peace in the face of Serbia's aggressive and threatening behavior”.
