British Foreign Secretary David Cameron said in Pristina on Thursday that official London will help Kosovo in its efforts to be recognized by other countries.

Local media reported him as telling a news conference with Kosovo Foreign Minister Donika Gërvalla Schwarz that countries like Great Britain need to provide support for others and invest in areas that are showing signs of stability and progress.

Serbian Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic reacted to Cameron’s words saying that he should think about his statements. The Russian Sputnik portal in Serbian quoted Dacic as saying that the UK Foreign Secretary failed to mention Pristina’s failure to implement the 2013 Brussels Agreement nor what he called the terror and forced expulsion of more than 200,000 Kosovo Serbs and the destruction of churches and monasteries.

Cameron said the UK supports Kosovo’s right to be recognized by others “as a sovereign country”.
