In a guest appearance on Radio Television of Serbia (RTS), the Catholic Archbishop of Belgrade said that Easter is coming this year in complex world circumstances and called for peace among people and in the world.

"I was talking about the difficult situation we are living in, the war in Ukraine, the war in Gaza. Especially Gaza, because it is a holy land. Israel, Gaza, that is the area where Jesus was born, where he lived, where he died and was resurrected. During major holidays, especially religious ones, there was no war. Today, even that is not respected at all", said Archbishop Ladislav Nemet.

According to him, in Ukraine, two Christian nations are being killed even during Easter, and politicians should be wise and do everything to prevent wars.

"When the Pope said they should use the White Flag, he meant negotiations. The Ukrainians took it as a cheer for the Russians and a call to surrender. Not like that, but to end the unnecessary bloodshed. A few kilometers, or even a few thousand square kilometers, will never compensate for so many human lives and broken, destroyed existences as we see now," Archbishop Nemet said.
