The Bridge Remains Initiative activists have been preventing the demolition of the historic Old Savski Bridge, just a couple of hundred meters from the Brankov Bridge which they blocked for about half an hour. The Brankov Bridge is one of the main traffic arteries connecting the new and old parts of the Serbian capital.

The road block was set up on the central city end of the bridge with traffic police redirecting drivers. The crowd carried banners with the names of the 15 people who died in the collapse of a concrete awning at Novi Sad Railway Station on November 1.

The Bridge Remains Initiative is trying to prevent the demolition of the Old Savski Bridge which was built by the Nazis in WW 2 and whose demolition by the Wermacht was prevented by a school teacher who lived nearby.
