The ceiling in a central Belgrade passageway has been in danger of collapsing for months and the authorities are doing nothing about it, an official of the Urban Development Center NGO told N1 on Monday. Pročitaj više
An N1 crew reported that the ceiling in the Bezistan passageway between Terazije Square and Nikola Pasic Square was crumbling and that the city authorities had put up a temporary metal fence around the area where it could potentially fall. Bezistan is the shortest way between the two central squares and is used by thousands daily.
The Urban Development Center’s Marko Bogdanovic said that this is not an isolated occurrence. “It’s not just Bezistan, we have other instances – the fall of a facade in central Belgrade, several other facades have been marked but nothing has been done. The only thing the city authorities is doing is fencing them off with tape warning of a possible fall,” he said adding that this is a general lack of care for the city which has been going on for a very long time.
He said the metal fence in Bezistan can’t be a long-term solution, adding that ownership can’t prevent the city from doing something.
