Serbia’s Defense Minister Bratislav Gasic and Bishop Ignatije of Branicevo signed Tuesday an agreement that allows the Ministry of Defense and the Serbian Armed Forces (SAF) to use a plot of land belonging to the Serbian Orthodox Church (SPC) - the Diocese of Branicevo, which is located next to the Pasuljanske Livade Military Complex.

Defense Ministry and SAF will use the land free of charge for training and firing practices using personal and collective weapons, the Ministry said.

It quoted Minsiter Gasic as saying that the signing of the agreement is a result of good cooperation between the Ministry of Defense and the Serbian Orthodox Church.

“By providing additional training space, we are improving the readiness our units,” said Gasic said adding that “cooperation between the military and the church is based on mutual trust, shared values and being at the service of people.”
