An armed clash between migrants on the outskirts of the northern town of Subotica was reported to the police on Saturday morning. According to initial information, one migrant succumbed to injuries while seven were seriously injured.
The injured migrants have undergone a treatment at the Subotica hospital.
Among the migrants who were submitted to the hospital is a 16-year-old girl whose life is in jeopardy.
According to the public broadcaster RTS, the clash between two rival groups was probably caused by a dispute over who would smuggle the migrants.
Subotica mayor Stevan Bakic said that the local population was not threatened on this occasion and that he had no worries about the safety of the people of Subotica. However, Bakic stressed that the safety of the citizens of Subotica will rise to a higher level after this conflict.
