Media reports said that the Council of Europe (CoE) criticized the authorities in Pristina for the excessive use of police forces in the north of Kosovo. Pročitaj više

The media quoted a CoE report on Kosovo’s alignment with that organization’s standards which called Pristina to refrain from police operations that could lead to wider conflicts. It said that the Kosovo authorities favor quick and violent use of special forces to establish order even when there is a risk of the police action causing mass bloodshed and expressed concern over the tendency to use police special forces excessively in the north.

The report said that a greater escalation of violence was prevented by KFOR.

It also criticized Kosovo institutions for failing to respect the independence of the judiciary and abide by court rulings and international agreements.
