Commemoration held for basketball player Dejan Milojevic
A commemoration was held for the recently deceased basketball player and assistant coach of the Golden State Warriors, Dejan Milojevic at the Belgrade City Assembly.
The commemoration began with a minute of silence and the showing of a short film about the life and basketball career of Dejan Milojevic. The event held in his honor was attended by his numerous colleagues, family and friends.
Then the President of the Basketball Federation of Serbia Predrag Danilovic, the State Secretary for Sports Marko Keselj, Milojevic's associate and friend - manager Miodrag Raznatovic, as well as his former teammate Milan Radovanovic addressed the present.
"There was no one who didn’t respect and love him. A man without a single stain. There was no one who didn’t love him. A great basketball player and coach, and above all a great man. I had the honor of knowing him. He carried in himself everything that adorned the greats of our basketball. He had all the virtues of the most respected players around whom you build the game and team chemistry," said Danilovic.
The famous Serbian basketball player and coach will be buried on Monday, February 12 in Belgrade.
Milojevic died of a heart attack on January 17 in Salt Lake City, at the age of 47.
During his playing career, he wore the jersey of Beovuk, FMP, Buducnosti, Partizan, Valencia and Galatasaray. He was European champion in 2001 with the national team of Yugoslavia.
As a head coach, he worked in Mega, Buducnosti from Podgorica. Since 2021, he has been an assistant coach at Golden State, with whom he won the title of NBA champion in 2022.
