Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said in Belgrade on Thursday that consultations on the new government will start in the second half of May or early June.

He told reporters that he would address the public on Friday. Vucic said lawyers are looking into when the consultations can start because of different interpretations of the law. “I don’t know if I have to wait for my term as president to expire on May 31 or if I can call the consultations. If I can, the consultations can begin in the second half of May if not then when I am sworn in in Parliament early in June,” he said.

He said that the important thing is to reach agreement on the best possible government.
