Court confirms fine against Belgrade official for insulting opposition leader
Serbia’s nationalist Dveri Movement said on Friday the Belgrade Appellate Court confirmed the High Court verdict against the city Deputy Mayor for insulting its leader.
Goran Vesic was fined some 1,700 euros (200,000 dinars) for insulting Bosko Obradovic reputation and honour by calling him a fascist.
Obradovic welcomed the verdict, saying it cleared his and the names of all from the Movement.
„We are anti-fascist and cannot imagine that any Serb whose nation suffered so much from nazism and fascism can advocate those ideologies. Justice is slow but achievable,” he said.
Obradovic added he hoped the latest ruling would mark the beginning of court proceedings against all top leaders of the ruling Serbian Progressive Party (SNS), “particularly those involved in crime and corruption.”
“It is 200,000 dinars fine today, but it must be imprisonment, confiscation of illegally obtained property and lustration, i.e., the ban on performing public duties, in the future,” the Dveri leader said.
