Tatjana Adzic-Vukicevic, COVID hospital manager in Belgrade's Batajnica municipality, said she fully supports the idea of introducing mandatory immunisation for health workers in Serbia, assessing it as “unacceptable” and “irresponsible” that some of those working in COVID hospitals refuse to be vaccinated.

“Health workers must urgently be vaccinated. Mandatory vaccination is necessary for medical workers but also for all those employed in the public sector, the workers in banks, schools, police, military,” Adzic-Vukicevic told Politika daily.

According to her, the Batajnica COVID hospital is prepared for any possible scenario, and currently there are 33 patients hospitalised there.

“Fortunately, there are not many among newly infected these days who need hospitalisation. We cannot tell how many patients will be there in the upcoming period, but I am sure it cannot be as horrible as it was,” she added.

She also warned that the virus will continue to search for those who will transmit the infection and that those will be non-vaccinated persons.
