The CRTA democracy watchdog said on Monday that its latest poll showed that equal numbers of Serbians feel that it does not matter who comes to power next and that things would only get worse without President Aleksandar Vucic.

According to CRTA, 43 percent of the polled Serbians said it does not matter who takes over after Vucic while 39 percent said things will go downhill without him.

A press release added that almost two thirds of Serbians see early elections as a way out of the current crisis. It added that a third of voters who support the ruling Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) want early elections.

The poll showed that 58 percent of Serbians support the anti-regime protests and that 39 percent do not. Almost half the polled believe the country is headed in the wrong direction and support the protest while a third believe it is going the right way and are angry and worried about the situation. Those percentages are almost the same as at the start of the student protests in December 2024.

CRTA said that polarization of Serbian society is reflected in the fact that 26 percent of the polled said systemic corruption is the biggest problem while 20 percent feel that the student protests are the worst problem. Concerns include the authorities and economic problems.

The people who support Vucic and see the students as the biggest problem are mostly elderly, uneducated and people who said pro-regime media are their main source of information.
