CRTA reports registration of B-H nationals to vote in Serbia

The recording is of a woman identified by her first name who says she has been scanning Serbia-issued ID cards in the Bosnian city of Visegrad for a month or more. She is also recorded asking someone if they want to register to vote in Serbia. CRTA says the woman claimed to have scanned more than 1,000 ID cards.

CRTA recalled that Serbian citizens living in Bosnia-Herzegovina have the right to vote but must personally register to vote abroad. It said that voter registration appears to be taking place before elections have been called.

The claims have not been independently verified by N1.

Under Serbian law, all adult citizens of Serbia have the right to vote in elections where their permanent residence is which means they can vote in consulates and embassies but have to register to vote there.

The opposition and democracy watchdog NGOs reported voters being bussed in from Bosnia-Herzegovina for elections over the past few years.
