Serbia’s Minister of Culture Nikola Selakovic said Friday that Serbia should follow the example of Romania, which has a Ministry of Culture and National Identity.
“This reflects the great importance that Romanians place on preserving their national and cultural identity, as well as the identity of their people and their fellow countrymen worldwide. I believe we should follow their example,” Selakovic told the opening of the Days of Serbian Culture event in Timisoara, the Serbian Culture Ministry said in a press release.
Selakovic emphasized the close and friendly relations between the two countries, quoting a Romanian proverb: “Romania has two friends and two allies – the Black Sea and Serbia.”
He added that the friendship withstood great challenges and passed significant tests in the past.
