Serbian Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic spoke Thursday with former European Union (EU) High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton who said that Serbia plays a key role in the region and that its EU membership is a goal to be aspired to.

A press release issued by the Ministry said the meeting focused particularly on issues related to the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue, with Dacic and Ashton agreeing that the continuation of dialogue is the only path that will produce results.

The minister emphasized Serbia's commitment to regional cooperation, and informed Ashton of Serbia's efforts to preserve peace and stability.

The meeting underscored the importance of further strengthening dialogue at the highest levels between Serbia and Great Britain.
