His statement comes after President Aleksandar Vucic said the SPS under Dacic never won more than 15 percent of the vote at elections, down from the 40 percent it had under Slobodan Milosevic. Vucic said he brought the SPS into his Serbian Progressive Party (SNS)-led cabinets even though he did not need them and added that the party won’t cross the 5 percent threshold to enter parliament when Dacic leaves.
Dacic told Kurir that no serious political structure is viable without his party. According to him, the SPS will continue its policies which protect state and national interests. He added that the SPS “is not a party that appears and disappears depending on political winds” but is “stable, organized and politically unavoidable today”.
The SPS leader said he is convinced that his party and Vucic’s SNS will win coming elections the date of which depends on the overall situation at home and abroad.
