Serbian Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic said after his visit to Washington that it was his impression that "the atmosphere and attitude towards Serbia has changed a lot compared to previous years" in the US and pointed out that without good relations with that country it is not possible to reach a solution on the issue of Kosovo.
„Today, we can see that there is much more understanding of the position of Serbia, of what the problems and vision of Serbia are. We can say that we can build the foundations for a strategic partnership,” Dacic told TV Pink.
He also said that this is important, because “it is impossible to think about the way and the possibility of reaching a political solution without such relations with the US.”
According to Dacic, he was hinted in Brussels and Washington that this is a consequence of Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic’s responsible attitude towards the most important issues.
Dacic reiterated that the American position is not to discuss the assumed obligations.
“I heard from international negotiators that they are dissatisfied with (Kosovo PM) Albin Kurti, firstly because he refuses to form the Community of Serb Municipalities, secondly, he is absolutely arrogant and demands that before anything is signed, the five countries in the EU that have not recognised Kosovo do so and that he says when are they going to accept Kosovo’s application for membership in the EU and NATO,” he stressed.
He also said that the Quint countries, except the UK, recommended to all other countries to refrain from admitting Kosovo to the Council of Europe until the further development of the situation is seen.
