Serbian Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic told European Parliament official David McAllister on Monday that Belgrade is fully committed to reforms and developing regional cooperation.

A government press release said that Dacic met with the Chairman of the European Parliament Foreign Affairs Committee (AFET) on the margins of the EU Foreign Affairs Council meeting in Brussels. It said that they discussed Serbia’s European integration and the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue. The Foreign Minister is attending a working lunch for Western Balkan foreign ministers and their European Union counterparts.

Dacic said that Serbia is committed to developing regional cooperation to contribute to building trust, reconciliation and overall development.

Mcallister is quoted as saying that the reform process and government’s steps to align with EU visa policies are good but added that Belgrade has to align with EU foreign and security policies. Dacic replied that Serbia has no problem in aligning with EU policies as long as they don’t violate its national interests.

“They agreed that the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue and meeting obligations is the only way to achieve lasting peace and stability.
