Serbian Foreign Minister Dacic told reporters after his meeting with Spanish Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Albares Bueno that “every country has its Kosovo”.

He thanked official Madrid for its support to Serbia’s territorial integrity, adding that this is not only about Serbia’s interests but about the universal principles of international law.

Albares Bueno said his country wants to strengthen its presence in the Western Balkans. He began his tour of the region in Serbia which he said is very important to Spain in all areas of cooperation. European Union special representative Miroslav Lajcak knows he can count on Spain and our EU Council Presidency to get the Balkans closer to Europe,” he told reporters.

Albares Bueno also met with Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic during his first official visit to Belgrade.
A press release quoted Brnabic as thanking Spain “for its principled stance of respecting the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Serbia,” adding that she informed him about the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue with focus on “attacks and harassment of the Serbian population, desecration of cultural heritage, as well as the fact that Pristina is not implementing its obligations from the Brussels Agreement”.

Albares Bueno is quoted as saying that Spain will play an important role in the enlargement policy during its presidency of the EU Council.
