The leader of the Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS), Ivica Dacic, stated that the party would support the president of the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS), Aleksandar Vucic, as a joint candidate for the upcoming presidential elections, and that now the "central question" is whether they will have a joint list for other elections.
„Vucic, as a joint candidate, is a synonym of a common policy and goals,“ Dacic told Prva TV, stating that the most current question now is whether the Socialists and the Progressives will „go on one or two lists.“
According to him, the answer will depend on how the opposition will perform and how SPS and SNS voters will react to whether it is better to have just one list – both in the technical-organizational sense and in collecting votes or to have separate lists.
„My opinion is that we should not drop out of that common basket in which all the eggs are in one place. Why would we do that, if you are already doing that (supporting Vucic) for President? Imagine this situation as a campaign in everyday political life. where you agitate for Vucic in the morning and for yourself or the party in the afternoon,“ said Dacic.
