Belgrade pro-government daily Vecernje Novosti said on Monday that President Aleksandar Vucic expressed disappointment with the behavior of ruling coalition ally the Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS) at the parliament debate on Kosovo.

“I am very disappointed with the behavior of the Socialists who were somewhere in between, sucking up to everyone,” the daily reported Vucic as telling a meeting of his Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) leadership quoting unnamed sources in the ruling party.

SNS executive board chief Darko Glisic is reported to have said that his party had enough of the Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS) flirting with the opposition. “I am telling the SPS that the SNS is prepared to becoe the opposition but not party to political bargaining,” he said.

Senior SPS official, Education Minister Branko Ruzic rejected the Glisic’s claims. He said that Vucic and SPS leader Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic would discuss the issue. “I see no ground for the criticism…. The SPS is 33 years old and if we had flirted with the opposition we would not have had a joint candidate at the presidential elections,” Ruzic told the state Radio TV Vojvodina.

A Foreign Ministry statement said that Dacic canceled all his meetings scheduled for Tuesday.

According to Ruzic, Vucic has the most honest ally in Dacic and rejected claims that the SPS was blackmailing the SNS.
