Deans condemn hit and run incident

The deans of all 31 Belgrade University schools warned that the “mindless act of violence is a direct assault not only on a young person but on the entire academic community and the democratic values the university defends”.

“We remain united in defending the right of our students to a safe and dignified protest,” a statement said.
The deans appealed to the authorities to make sure the students are safe during their legitimate protests, insisting on a stronger police presence.

The statement called everyone involved in public life in Serbia, especially politicians, to refrain from saying anything that could incite hatred, intolerance or aggression and create rifts or direct violence against students.
