“Defending (with) Knowledge”: Protests on Saturday in three Serbian university cities
The University in Rebellion in Belgrade, the Free University in Nis, and the Free University in Kragujevac on Friday announced that events under the banner “Defending (with) Knowledge” will be held on Saturday in three major Serbian university centers in order to highlight universities as an inseparable part of society and key stakeholders in addressing major social issues.
The gathering in Belgrade will take place at the Students’ Square from 10 am to 9 pm, in Nis at Cair Park from 11 am to 5 pm, and in Kragujevac’s Big Park from noon to 6 pm.
University professors, researchers, and students have organized a wide array of scientific and artistic content, “with the desire to share with visitors at least a fraction of the knowledge, skills, and creativity cultivated at the University of Belgrade, the University of Arts in Belgrade, the University of Nis, and the University of Kragujevac,” the University in Rebellion said in a statement.
In addition to showcasing notable scientific achievements and artistic programs, the events will also address current social issues, such as the controversial Jadar mining project, the upcoming Expo 2027 specialized exhibition, and student demands.
