The Serbian Defense Ministry said that heavily armed Kosovo Police personnel crossed the administrative boundary into Serbia proper.

The ministry called KFOR to prevent the authorities in Pristina from escalating violence and accused Prime Minister Albin Kurti of ordering the police to cross the boundary line. “Serbian Army units in the Ground Safety Zone are monitoring the situation on the ground and are prepared to react in line with the Military-Technical Agreement,” a press release said.

The KoSSev news portal quoted Kosovo Police officials as telling it that the claim by the Serbian Defense Ministry was false and groundless, adding that the statement is a deliberate attempt to create insecurity among the local population and undermine the credibility of the Kosovo Police.

KoSSev also contacted KFOR for a comment but was told to contact the Serbian authorities. A KFOR spokesperson told the portal that the NATO-led mission has a visible, flexible presence and is in a good position to respond to any security scenario in line with its mandate.
