Serbia’s Defense Minister Milos Vucevic said that the Serbian Armed Forces’ (SAF) capabilities demonstration Granite 2023 that is to be held on Saturday, April 22, at the Batajnica air base is not a threat to anyone, but that a strong military is “a deterrent for those who do not mean us well.”
Vucevic told Prva TV that this will be a chance see almost all types of weapons that the military has, including some novelties, recalling that the event would take place on the occasion of Serbian Armed Forces Day and that the SAF is “a guarantor of preserving peace and freedom.”
Addressing the issue of the national defense industry, the Minister said “for the umpteenth time” that what the industry manufactures is not sold to any warring side.
“Will someone who bought that from us abuse it? That is possible,” said Vucevic, stressing that he does not know where the weapons sold will end up.
However, he said, Serbia cannot be blamed for that as “it behaves like a conscientious seller and respects all norms of international trade.”
“Serbia is not taking part in the conflict in Ukraine on either side, we are rooting for that fratricidal war to stop as soon as possible, if it were up to Serbia it would stop today, two brotherly, Slavic, Orthodox Christian peoples are at war,” said Vucevic.
