Demostat: EP observation mission due in Serbia on December 14

A European Parliament (EP) mission, which will be observing the coming elections in Serbia and will include the rapporteurs for Serbia and Kosovo, Vladimir Bilcik and Viola von Cramon, will arrive in Belgrade on December 14, reported Demostat.

Along with Bilcik, MEP from the ranks of the European People’s Party, and Viola von Cramon, MEP of the Group of the Greens, the mission will also comprise MEPs Klemen Groselj and Javier Nart of the Renew Europe Group, and Andreas Schieder of the Group of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats in the European Parliament, Demostat unofficially leant from sources in the European Parliament.

The EP observers, due in Serbia on the last day of the election campaign, will be part of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) mission observing the December 17 early parliamentary elections in Serbia.

The decision to send an observation mission to Serbia was made after the EP received a letter from Serbian Parliament speaker Vladimir Orlic asking that it be formed.

The first time the EP sent a delegation to observe elections in Serbia was for last year’s April elections.
