Belgrade Deputy Mayor Goran Vesic said on Monday that the city metro will cost some 4.4 billion Euro to build.

“A metro means that we will develop different parts of the city, reduce the number of buses, develop the BG Train and create an environmentally acceptable public transport. A metro means that we will live in a metropolis,” he told B92 TV.

He commented opposition criticism of the project asking if “anyone normal can be opposed to the idea of a city of two million people having a metro”.
