Director: Serbia will be normal when Quo Vadis, Aida? is shown on state TV

Serbia “will prove that it is a normal country” once Jasmila Zbanic’s war drama about the Srebrenica Genocide, ‘Quo Vadis, Aida?’ is shown on its state television, Serbian theatre director, Kokan Mladenovic, told N1.

Bosnia’s entry was one of the favourites in the 2021 Academy Awards but lost the Oscar to the Danish film ‘Another Round’ by Thomas Vinterberg.

Mladenovic said Quo Vadis, Aida? is an important film that talks about genocide – a common trauma in the region.

“As long as we do not understand our own participation in evil, we will not move forward,” he said, adding that he is glad that two Serbian actors who starred in the film, Boris Isakovic and Jasna Djuricic, recognised its importance.
